Unlike Heretic, Hexen has absolutely no linetypes in common with DOOM. In fact, the whole scheme of triggering, parameterising and specifying special actions has changed. Hexen's special actions can be triggered in many ways, not just from LINEDEFs, as was the way with DOOM. They can be triggered from:


Regardless of where they are triggered from, each Special Action operates in the same way. All Special Actions can be controlled by up to five arguments passed to them by the triggering event. As you can imagine, this leads to an extremely flexible system of designer controlled events.
